Building Community and Tiny Houses

Updated: Sep 26, 2023

"Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did to me." Matthew 25:40

-------

On a Saturday in late April, a group of us from Teleios, DADS (Divine Alternatives for Dads Services), ECBF (Emerald City Bible Fellowship), and CBSR (Church by the Side of the Road), were able to help build a tiny house for the homeless here in Seattle. We did this with a great organization, Sound Foundations NW.

We found out that when a homeless person enters a tiny house community, they are 5-6x more likely to move to long term housing and get off the streets than if they go to a short-term shelter. It is all because they experience "community". They find a safe place where they can build relationships. That is something near and dear to our hearts and is what we build in our groups and individual relationships with each other. It really is all about relationships and giving ourselves away to one another. In a small way, we built deeper community by building a tiny house.

We hope to do this again, so if you are interested, please reach out!
